Proven technology

The Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) is universally regarded as the premium technology for converting recovered heat into power. The Opcon Powerbox uses Opcon’s unique twin screw expander technology with its significant advantages over traditional turbine expanders. The twin screw expander affords the Opcon Powerbox a greater operating range as it doesn’t require the working fluid to be superheated to a dry vapour as the traditional technology does.

In fact, it operates with identical or improved efficiencies when the working fluid is wet, which enables the system to continue operation at reduced temperatures.

Widespread commercialisation

Designed in Sweden, the Opcon Powerbox has been commercialised across Europe, and is currently used in countries including Scotland, Czech Republic and Italy.

From the 1st to the 3rd Generation Opcon Powerbox

Enerji and Opcon underwent major efforts to adapt Opcon Powerbox technology for Australian standards and conditions – the results of which is the “3rd Generation Opcon Powerbox”.

The 3rd Generation Opcon Powerbox has greater power generation capacity than its predecessor, which will enhance its rapid roll-out to commercial sites.
